the low bun
Yves Saint Laurent's Spring 2012 hair barrette
Low buns can be so mundane, but Yves Saint Laurent has made them look exciting, dramatic, chic, and - most importantly - wearable. Never before have low buns looked so great.
"To create the look, hairstylist Guido [Palau] prepped the hair with Redken Satinwear before blow-drying the hair back away from the face to boost thickness. After lightly teasing the crown for lift, he raked everything back with his hands and finger-combed the hair into a low ponytail. Next, he teased the tail itself, squished it all into a knot, and pinned it in place. He finished by spritzing the hair with Redken Pure Force Hairspray and Redken Shine Flash 02 mist for glossiness, then attaching the gold centipede-like barrette around the bun."
