Where Art Meets Jewelry &
Jewelry Meets History
Canadian jewelry designer, Claudio Pino, is well-known around the world especially for his unique sculptural rings, which are considerd pieces of jewelry, but undoubtly are works of art. One ring in particular that has received special recognition is Pino’s Tactus ring, which is a part of his Kinetic Rings Collection.
According to Pino, “The Tactus Ring juxtaposes the cold silver to the warm brass and copper. This hinged ring draws a bridge between the traditions of the metallic suits of armor worn in the middle ages to the historic representation of jewelry throughout time. It restores the importance of precision, expression and precious embellishment , while questioning how the sensation of touch has been amplified over the centuries, especially through the influence of digital culture.”
