Fenton Spring 2012
Fenton jewelry designer, Dana Lorenz, found
inspiration for her Spring 2012 Collection from the work of Cecily Brown – “And
it was the abstract flourishes of Brown’s painting Night Passage in particular that captivated her imagination and
brought to mind the hues and undulating curves of Miami’s Art Deco architecture.
‘It became about reflecting the colors, geometry and general spirit of South
Beach after that,’ Lorenz says.
The results were altogether softer and more romantic
than is usually expected… Indeed, continuing fall’s moody, baroque aesthetic,
this season Lorenz threaded a candy-store palette of coral blue, taupe, and
lemon moonstones, interspersed with accents of tangerine-dyed turquoise beads
on her trademark twisted chains, which made for a startling contrast. ‘It’s
very playful,’ Lorenz says…’I usually go for a dark strength in my work, but
spring is about color and to me, these pastels still feel powerful.’ (Vogue, September 8, 2011)
